We ask every blood centre on e-RaktKosh, over India’s health network, for live stock. Centres answer one by one over about half a minute.
Before you travel, call the blood bank
- Stock is a snapshot, not a reservation. Each result shows the date and time that blood bank last reported. Units can be issued to a patient minutes later.
- “Not stated” is not zero. Some banks report that they hold a group without giving a count. We show that as “not stated” rather than guessing — it may still be worth a call.
- No answer is not “no blood”. Banks reply independently and the national network is occasionally quiet. If nothing comes back, search again rather than assuming there is none nearby.
- Results cover whole blood. Hospitals often transfuse components such as packed red cells or plasma. Ask the bank what they hold for the component you need.

What is a blood bank?
A blood bank is a licensed facility that collects, tests, stores and issues blood and blood components — red cells, plasma and platelets — to hospitals and patients who need a transfusion.
What is e-Raktkosh?
e-Raktkosh is India’s national blood-bank management system under the Ministry of Health. It connects licensed blood banks so that stock and availability information can be shared in one place.

Instead of calling banks one by one, a single search lets you check which nearby blood banks may hold the group you need — a real time-saver in an emergency.
Every donation counts
Blood cannot be manufactured — it comes only from voluntary donors. Healthy adults can usually donate a few times a year, helping keep hospital supplies ready for patients and emergencies.

Can I search blood banks now?
Yes. The blood-bank finder is live. Choose a state, city and blood group to see which nearby blood banks have reported stock, drawn from the ABDM/UHI network and e-Raktkosh. It is free and needs no sign-up.
Is the blood availability live?
Results come from the national network in real time, but the stock figures are only as fresh as each blood bank’s last update — every result shows the date and time it was reported. Units can be issued to another patient at any moment, so always call the blood bank to confirm before travelling.
What does it mean if no blood banks are shown?
It does not necessarily mean there is no blood available. Blood banks answer independently, and the national network is occasionally quiet, in which case a search can return nothing even where stock exists. Try the search again, or call a blood bank in your city directly.
Which cities are covered?
Coverage follows e-Raktkosh, which spans licensed blood banks across India. Results depend on which banks report to the national network for the city you choose, so some cities return more banks than others.
Does it cover platelets, plasma or packed red cells?
Results currently cover whole blood. Many hospitals transfuse components such as packed red cells, fresh frozen plasma or platelets, so ask the blood bank directly about the component you need.
Is it free to use?
Yes. Searching for a blood bank on ExaHealth is free and requires no account. Creating and using your ABHA is free as well under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission.
